Okay, so I am going to give this blog thing another shot. I haven't written since August. What is new? A LOT!! First lets update on Asher. He is already 8 months old. He is very nosey, wants to be around the action. He had to have surgery to fix his kidney on November 4. At first we got bad news. His ureter was shaped like a W instead of more like a C and it looked like hot dog links. They had to cut out a lot of it and were afraid it would be short and difficult to reconnect. Well, they moved the ureter and everything looked okay. A couple of weeks later he was hospitalized again for infection. It is a loooooong story, but lets just say thank the lord I had a clue because they were ready to take him back to surgery (his doctor was on a mission trip in Peru) and put in a tube that would drain his kidney into a bag. I said how about we treat the green stuff coming out of his drain is an infection first?!! Well, it was! Our first couple of radiology tests after surgery did not show much improvement, but we just had one late Feb and it was improved!! Praise the lord, no tests for 6 months! Otherwise, Ash is a very happy baby who loves attention, talking, clapping and his big brother Sawyer.
Speaking of Sawyer, he just turned 3 in February!! He is quite the character as most 3 year olds are. He has changed his name to "Bubba" unless he is mad at Asher and then he is Sawyer again. He is currently fascinated with sticks and Backyardigans. (A cartoon in case you aren't familiar). He is into bad guys and good guys and can still hit a line drive like you can't believe. We are thinking he might get drafted at 18. Well, at least Drew does anyway!
As for Drew and I, we are about to have our 5th wedding anniversary. We are both still just working hard and recently have been trying to run. It is going pretty good! Well, I am going to try to get better at this so check back for more frequent and shorter updates!!

Bringing you up to date on our life
So 2008 has been a pretty eventful year for us. As you probably know, we had our second baby boy, Asher Bryan on July 1, 2008. He weighed in at 9 lbs 7 oz and 22 inches long. He is now 8 weeks old and weighs 14 lbs 8 oz. What can I say, my boys like to eat. It has been an adventure getting Asher here. It all started in March when a family friend was doing an ultra sound for me for fun and we found a "bubble" in Asher's stomach. I was 24 weeks pregnant. So we were just supposed to watch it and at 30 weeks we did not see it, but Asher had turned to the breech position. At 34 weeks my life kind of fell apart for a little bit. We lost our beloved Pa Pa. I still have a hard time with it once in awhile, he was such a big part of our life, I miss him every day. My mom was also scheduled to have a hysterectomy for cancer cells found in her uterus exactly one week from loosing Pa Pa. This was a big deal because last year my mom became septic and nearly died. She had complications from anesthesia in surgery and had to remain on the ventilator for a day. So needless to say, we don't like for her to have surgery. The same day that mom had her surgery, we found out Asher's bubble was indeed still there, but we had no idea what it was. So the next week I went for a high risk ultra sound and we discovered it involved the left kidney, but we still couldn't give it an exact diagnosis. Now that he is here, we have had 3 ultra sounds, a VCUG, and a dye study in nuclear medicine. We know he has a UPJ obstruction where the kidney and ureter meet. So basically the "bubble" we saw was his kidney filled with fluid and it can not drain well if at all due to the blockage. We will know what to do about that next Tuesday. So actually, even though I have 2 kids now, life is much calmer! Did I mention that my husband was working out of town from the time I was 27 weeks pregnant until I was 37 weeks pregnant? I about lost my mind, but I made it through. Sawyer is great, Asher arrived safe and sound and is doing well, my mom is healthy and retired in May and my husband is finally home! God is good.
